Loading ...I don’t keep up with the ever changing rules of mining because I don’t mine. I heard something about that too because it can interfer with spawning I believe. Calif has such a long history of mining or paning that the rivers still have Mercury in them from the days they used it. That’s kinda important to know if you fish. Certain fish that return every year like trout may have higher levels of mercury in them. Salmon only return once then die so probably not as much. I was kinda shocked to learn the Kern River I rafter in fished in as a teen trout also had higher levels and Id be pulling out ” enough to eat” every day I was there.
I thought about getting some land for thst. It doesn’t cost much maybe 100 a year you lease and they give you your own strip of the river and some quite large. All you have to do is show improvement every year buying something for panning. You can live there but can’t officially live there. You can put up storages whatever you could probably make a house out of or a camper but I didn’t want to live there although the thought occurred lol I decided these places were too far away so passed. Maybe when I retire if it has fishing too lol
