Seems like there might not be any big moves either way this week. A little back & forth.
Quiet this am. Most everything is flat. Dollar, SM, rates, oil down 1/2%, Bitcoin down 1%, PM’s – silver flat, gold down a few bucks but nothing crazy, pm shares flat. No eco data of interest today, we have the PCE later this week, but everyone seems content to sit still.
I suppose that unless something big surprises everyone, it will probably be boring.

Local winds maybe 35mph. Rather sheltered at my place. Hurricane barely made 85mph but that circulation was offshore. Our two big 14,000 ft mountains are ‘hurricane busters’. They cannot come ashore. In a close pass like this one, the mountains scrape the rain circulation off the north side of the storm…. and dump on us. The lava rock drains well and has established runoff channels. Overall we get 150 inches of rain annually on this part of the island.

yeah, there’s just no volume to carry some of this stuff across the finish line. They sort of bled GLD and SLV down slowly in the last 15 minutes. Volume was anemic today. Still, on light volume with the dollar up they could’ve have worked the metals over but they didn’t.
Don’t know what’s up with oil but I guess if the oil shares aren’t doing anything it might just be an opportune squeeze.
This is the week before Labor Day here on Monday. Looks like a lot of the scum may have headed toward the Hampton’s already. Seems they do that earlier and earlier every year. Used to be they’d leave on Friday. Might explain the lack of volume.
I expect by Tuesday next week we’ll get whatever the real trend is going to be.

I heard the recent report from SRSRocco Report (Highly recommend a subscription, Link Below, I am Gold Member) regarding Silver Miners Cost of $Silver Production for 2nd Quarter 2024. In this report he used a weighted average for Silvercrest, Fresnillo, Pan American, Hecla, First Majestic and Endeavor Silver / The weighted average cost to produce an ounce of Silver was $26.86 / Silvercrest was by far the LOWEST at $18.65 / Hecla/First Majestic & Endeavor ($29.43) were the highest, all over $28.

Ghana starts gold purchase programme to strengthen currency
ACCRA, May 17 (Reuters) – Ghana has started a bulk purchase programme to buy gold locally to raise the gold component of its reserves, Central Bank Governor Ernest Addison said on Tuesday, in a bid to strengthen the cedi currency without increasing inflation.
“We have started a bulk purchase program, domestic, where we buy gold locally and try to raise the gold component in our level of reserves. This is where the currency focus is,” Addison said at a conference.
Ghana’s Vice President says he plans to adopt a new exchange rate regime linking the country’s currency to gold.
We will know after the election in December.
This would be the second country to do this.
