The short s&p is a small position on a short pun leash.  Anyway I believe a substantial bear is around the corner, I just don’t know where the corner is but I keep  a starter position to remind me.

pm’s havent held gains but it is early and a Friday.  Oil stocks doing well.  I have XOM and CVX.

TLT is a long bond position paying about 4% interest yearly but paid monthly and hard to get into too much trouble.  I am guessing some foreign bond holders have been dumping relentlessly because they realize we might freeze their holdings or no longer need dollars or they feel our finances are shaky.  I bought in anticipation of the 50 basis cut not thinking about any of the above.

These numbers the government comes up with are simply machinations to manipulate everything.

On CNN money page it shows the jobs report as -28, vs estimates of 90k. Never seen a non-1000’s number like that.

The big two are falling: The dollar and rates, has to be beauty to the Fed’s eyes to see the bond market rally a little. Considering the size of positioning in the futures markets for rates, it seems like bonds could see a pretty good short covering rally. Unless the big seller keeps dumping. Otherwise, I’ve got to think we’ve seen the highs in the dollar for at least a little while.

Oil up near 3%, above $71. The 10 yr. down almost 5 bips, dollar starting to crater in earnest. PM’s and shares bouncing, SM bouncing. Everyone should be happy, happy, happy unless they’re short.

The estimate is for only 90k jobs, that seems awful low for the last report before an election. ZH did put something out that said in certain quarters they thought there could be a negative print. Someone knows what it will be, just not me.

There’s also an ISM Services report 15 minutes after the SM open. That sometimes matters.

In the meantime, everything is bouncing a little. SM, PM’s, Oil up 2%, Bitcoin flat, dollar up a little and rates up a little to 4.292%. PM shares up a little as well.

Everything will probably change after the report though.

China Weaponizes Supply Chain, Sends America’s Largest Drone Maker Into Crisis

America’s largest drone company and supplier of unmanned aircraft to the Ukrainian Armed Forces has been thrown into a supply chain crisis after Beijing imposed sanctions, barring it from sourcing drone parts from Chinese suppliers, according to a new Financial Times report. This is another wake-up call for American companies heavily reliant on China, highlighting the urgent need to ‘friend-shore’ or ‘reshore’ critical supply chains away from the world’s second-largest economy.

Sources familiar with the situation told FT that Beijing imposed sanctions on Skydio to prevent it from sourcing battery components from Chinese firms.

On Wednseday, Skydio said the sanctions by China were “for selling drones to Taiwan, where our only customer today is the National Fire Agency.”

Skydio CEO Adam Bry met with US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell and senior White House officials last week to discuss the dire situation as the Chinese paralyzed part of the drone company’s supply chain.

“This is a clarifying moment for the drone industry,” Bry told customers in a letter obtained by FT. He said, “If there was ever any doubt, this action makes clear that the Chinese government will use supply chains as a weapon to advance their interests over ours.”
