Regardless, he’s probably right to sell. Inflation isn’t going down, neither is the dollar or rates. Trump will get oil going and that will help some but it will take a while. The metals certainly don’t seem to be in any danger of running away to the upside and there are plenty of investments that have way outperformed pm’s. Gold is up 35% over the last 14 years. Pretty sure cash has been better. I hope he picks the right spot to get back in.

It’s one opinion but Mile Pento said he sold his gold for now in one of his recent videos Wealtheon??  He said it’s in a bull but he sold for now and will get in later because of the inevitable damage that has been caused in the last years is going to result in inflation. CME Group Inc., the parent company of COMEX, the leading U.S. exchange for gold and silver futures, will introduce a one-ounce gold futures contract in January. This move comes in response to soaring demand from retail investors, spurred by gold’s record-breaking rally this year from $2,000 to $2,630—a respectable 32% gain. Smaller-sized gold products have grown increasingly popular among retail investors seeking exposure to precious metals and greater diversification in their portfolios.

Jin Hennig, CME’s Global Head of Metals, described the one-ounce gold contract as “a great way to lower the barrier to entry in our market.” She also noted, “Our clientele is also getting younger. That’s a lot more doable.”

The one-ounce gold futures contract is set to launch on January 13, 2025, pending regulatory approval. This new offering complements CME’s existing retail-focused products, including 10-ounce micro gold and 1,000-ounce micro silver futures, which represent smaller fractions of the standard benchmark contracts. According to CME, these micro contracts have been among the fastest-growing products in their metals derivatives lineup, achieving record trading volumes this year.

and I know this is not the  place for humor, but that poor old lady looking for her cat had a literal CAT-ASTROPHE!

EDIT: I just noticed all those Yerington NV earthquakes are very shallow, like mostly 6-10 km. and the same for those in Petrolia CA, mostly under 5 km and some not even 1 km deep.

I heard the initial quake was a few miles off the ocean near Eureka. Many years ago don’t know about recent but the environmentalist there and people in general didn’t want oil drilling in their oceans. I also heard that they weren’t interested in training and hiring locals in that area so they were denied. I never saw any oil blots like some places in southern Calif Anyways it was said the initial Quake that called for a tsunami warning was a few miles off shore. I’m not sure about that accuracy but was also no oil wells in that area back when.

Texas on the other hand at one time did think fracking contributed to a quake but not sure when that happened.

Being in more than one I noticed the ones in Calif Anyways, that are on solid ground do shake back and forth and San Fernando was significant. Where the walls moved above you towards the ceiling then back the other way. Someone I know said he thought he had a flat tire on the FWY and pulled over  He said he saw the building shaking and leaning back and forth  Whole lotta shaking. We’re on the coast and from the ocean it was more of a rolling movement like you were on a boat caused by waves and much quieter in comparison. I heard one one poster who was there it was a rolling type movement. Just pieces I picked up but wasn’t so concerned because this is the time of year they start happening. I guess the bad part is like hurricanes. If you live somewhere where they’re frequent your not as attentive than someone who is not used to it. The reason is in a bad quake it’s likely you could get a jolt type warning and then the big one comes like in San Fernando. In a bad one the best chance of survival is getting out of the building immediately before the roofs start coming down or it collapses like what happened to the hospitals especially if made out of bricks where the grout from friction breaks down pretty fast like at the Veterans and hospital  or cement carports or bridges. Even today I do not like getting stuck in traffic on or under a bridge and will give a distance between me and the car in front so if things start to shake I won’t sit there I’d drive around them. Today with crime in some areas it’s a good idea anyways.

Nevada I don’t know if there was any fracking in or near the area I just hope they don’t leave sink holes like miners did. Some grandma just died because of that looking for her cat and fell through a sink hole looking for her cat.

Petrolia has had about the same number today, but smaller. Whole lotta shaking going on!

I guess there was one that was 5 point something. You can feel it but with building codes after the initial one that destroyed houses, hospitals  and commercial buildings but it was near a 7 point and long duration on San Fernando Valley that I was in 1970.  They upped building codes and helped it’s not a big deal less its a stronger quake.  They start off in winter with the seas more turbulent and then the ring of fire underwater volcanos.
