Meta Ends Fact-Checking on Facebook, Instagram in Free-Speech Pitch

“We’re going to get back to our roots and focus on reducing mistakes, simplifying our policies and restoring free expression on our platforms,” Zuckerberg said in a video Tuesday. “More specifically, we’re going to get rid of fact-checkers and replace them with Community Notes similar to X, starting in the U.S.”

Dollar pops positive, QQQ’s go firmly green. Gold hit for $6 so far, silver hit for 10 cents so far. Shares still firm but they’ll be sold at the open. It appears all is well in the universe.

I love that chart. It shows everything a pm stock investor needs to know. Every rally is very short in duration – usually a year or less, usually around six months. OTOH, every pullback goes on for at least two years, but usually longer. The first few months of the pullback usually wipes out 50% or more of the move up and occurs within less than six months and then drags on for another two years before bottoming.

This current move down has wiped out 50% in a couple months.

What’s the takeaway? I’d say if we continue down for another month, it will wipe out all gains from the previous six months. Seems imperative that the pm shares turn higher right here, right now, and break above that downtrend line. Place your bets.

We are strengthening this am with the 9 am hour quickly approaching. $2650 has been breached. This sector needs some big moves up, pronto.

Tough to be too confident about actually holding these early gains because the dollar has been creeping back up toward positive and rates are up another 2 bips or so.

PM shares are firm, but that is meaningless at this point in the morning.

Oil up 1/2%. Bitcoin down $1500 but still above $100K. SM is flat, with NVDA holding up the Nasdaq.

The big eco data today comes at 10 am EST, ISM services and JOLTS job openings. There’s a jobs report on Friday.

It would be nice to see us fly for a change while everything else goes in the crapper, but I’ve had that dream for a very long time.

Pure speculation on my part, but perhaps the 20 something year old coders were instructed to “tweak” the algos (after the 3 month ago run in the metals) to increase the use of the dollar in their manipulations of the metals…..

This is literally the only sector whose shares don’t follow the asset they produce. The only sector that is unable to sustain a rally for more than a few months.
Three days ago the pm sector had a great rally on halfway decent volume. What was that all about? Three days later, it’s like it never happened.

I’ll tell you this, if the dollar or 10 yr. rate ticks up a little, the metals fall immediately and the shares follow.
