We started rolling back into the paper scene in early April via mutual funds, namely USAGX. Then I couldn’t resist and had to buy a chunk of First Majestic Silver which is a thrill of a ride. The funds are boring but at they move slow enough I don’t feel a need to watch them every day.
Swiss voters set to reject basic income initiative
Swiss voters rejected by a wide margin a proposal to introduce a guaranteed basic income for everyone living in the wealthy country, projections by the GFS polling group for Swiss broadcaster SRF showed on Sunday.
First projections showed around 78 percent of voters rejected the initiative by Basel cafe owner Daniel Haeni and allies in a vote under the Swiss system of direct democracy, but it captured an uneasy debate about the future of work at a time of increasing automation.
Supporters had said introducing a monthly income of 2,500 Swiss francs ($2,563) per adult and 625 francs per child under 18 would promote human dignity and public service. Opponents, including the government, said it would cost too much and weaken the economy.
Haeni acknowledged defeat but claimed a moral victory.

Wanka
Wanka, Perhaps I missed you posting it, but… Did you ever receive the $50 bill from Maya? It was wrapped in aluminum foil with a return address from the ‘Texas Remailing Service”. Small note inside said ‘from Maya’ that could have been missed. Just checking…
drb2 @10:58. Re: Butler. I get your point, but for now I side with Butler’s opinion on this subject.

I disagree
JOE LOUIS was a better BOXER ,a BETTER AMERICAN …and a better MAN ..

I always liked the man but not the name change. I still prefer Cassius Clay….but that was his choice. Most remembered by me was “FLOAT LIKE A BUTTERFLY, STING LIKE A BEE”. RIP Cassius Clay.
Morning Auandag, Ipso
Auandag – yeah that makes sense, fix the numbers for cover so they don’t have to raise rates. Makes me wonder if what they released were actually real numbers for a change with the exception of the unemployment rate falling to 4.7% which was laughable. No way they will raise.
Ipso – the pension thing is probably right, smart money has been exiting for months now and yet the SM stays levitated. It really is stunning that they’re able to control it like they do.
CNBS showed Jamie Dimon in London fearmongering to a bunch of his employees saying if they voted for a Brexit there would be thousands of layoffs at JPM. But he said they shouldn’t “worry”.
If there was ever a reason to vote FOR Brexit – that was it. Trump will be visiting London the day before the election, I wonder what he’ll tell them?
RIP
Muhammad Ali a legend in our lifetime we won’t see again.
Buygold
All that sounds about right. Something else I’ve heard recently is that the PTB-PPT is deathly afraid to let the SM go because if it falls too much it threatens the solvency of all the pension funds … and that’s a lot of simoleons!
Buygold -The thinking is, why didn’t they manipulate the job numbers like they usually do,
because they need an excuse not to raise rates in june. The box they are in gets tighter and tighter. This is going to be fun to watch.
Ipso – one more thing
I don’t really see how they can keep the SM afloat without leaving rates alone. I guess in other words, maybe the SM and pm’s go up in tandem for awhile, because if they do raise rates it will crush the SM, but maybe not pm’s, because pm’s know what’s coming, just like last December.
WTFDIK? 🙂
Ipso, Wanka
Hey Ipso – Good day indeed. Nothing would make me happier than to see the Crimex explode. I certainly hope everyone stands for delivery and bleeds that pig dry. 🙂
Wanka – glad you got my check! I hope it doesn’t bounce.. 🙂
Have a great weekend!
