Colombia, Marxist rebels to sign accord ending 52-year war

Posted by ipso facto @ 9:34 on September 26, 2016

By Helen Murphy and Luis Jaime Acosta | CARTAGENA, Colombia

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos and Marxist rebel leader Timochenko will use a pen made from a bullet on Monday to sign an agreement ending a half-century war that killed a quarter of a million people and made their nation a byword for violence.

After four years of negotiations in Havana, Santos, 65, and Timochenko, a nom de guerre for 57-year-old revolutionary Rodrigo Londono, will shake hands on Colombian soil for the first time.

Some 2,500 foreign and local dignitaries will attend the ceremony scheduled for 5 p.m. local time (1800 EST/2200 GMT) in the walled, colonial city of Cartagena.

Edward Snowden Warns, Whatever You Do, Don’t Use Google Allo

Google Allo, the new “smart” chat app launched on Wednesday, is ‘dangerous’ and should be avoided, according to whistleblower Edward Snowden, because it will “record every message you ever send and make it available to police upon request.”

Arnold Palmer brought a country-club sport to the masses with a hard-charging style, charisma and a commoner’s touch, At ease with both presidents and the golfing public, and on a first-name basis with both, “The King,” died Sunday in Pittsburgh. He was 87.

Alastair Johnston, CEO of Arnold Palmer Enterprises, confirmed that Palmer died Sunday afternoon of complications from heart problems. Johnson said Palmer was admitted to the hospital Thursday for some cardiovascular work and weakened over the last few days.

“Today marks the passing of an era,” said Johnston, Palmer’s longtime agent at IMG. “Arnold Palmer’s influence, profile and achievements spread far beyond the game of golf. He was an iconic American who treated people with respect and warmth, and built a unique legacy through his ability to engage with fans.”

Palmer ranked among the most important figures in golf history, and it went well beyond his seven major championships and 62 PGA Tour wins. His good looks, devilish grin and go-for-broke manner made the elite sport appealing to one and all. And it helped that he arrived about the same time as television moved into most households, a perfect fit that sent golf to unprecedented popularity.

“If it wasn’t for Arnold, golf wouldn’t be as popular as it is now,” Tiger Woods said in 2004 when Palmer played in his last Masters. “He’s the one who basically brought it to the forefront on TV. If it wasn’t for him and his excitement, his flair, the way he played, golf probably would not have had that type of excitement.

“And that’s why he’s the king.”

Beyond his golf, Palmer was a pioneer in sports marketing, paving the way for scores of other athletes to reap in millions from endorsements. Some four decades after his last PGA Tour win, he ranked among the highest-earners in golf.

National Park, on my bucket list. The last time I was there, in 2000, there was little opportunity to enjoy the scenery. That year I had been called to a hearing to appear as a witness on the subject of cumulative environmental effects assessment for Cardinal River’s Cheviot Coal Mine Project.  Brule Lake was as beautiful then as it had been for centuries but the proposed mining project, rather than the surrounding scenery , was the focus during those  hearings.

BUZZ: Historic event to occur in the next six days that will end the rise of Trump and seize the future of America for totalitarian globalists
Mike Adams Put this into the category of “unverified buzz,” but the potential implications are so huge that I think you need to be aware of the fears.

According to whispers throughout the indy media, a “major event” will take place in the next six days that will radically reshape the 2016 presidential election (and possibly eliminate one or both of the current candidates).

I have to emphasize these are just whispers and it’s impossible for anyone to validate these concerns. But this needs to be publicly stated ahead of time, just in case certain globalists are planning to steal the election and enslave America forever…

That’s not feminism leaving your kids. Some rare cases mothers during a divorce will give them to the father because he could afford a better home and they would visit them. Those who do not want their kids are something else. They probably didn’t want them in  the first place or had another idea about parenting.. Like reverse parenting where they think the kids will take care of them. Yeah maybe at 80 but not growing up and if they don’t, don’t expect them being around when they are 80. Anyways that’s not feminism. I already told you what I think. Things try to swing from one side to the other too far. Not with everyone but there’s always those who misinterpret the meaning of everything. Sometimes no matter what you do like in her case it’s not enough as a parent because she had parents too. I’ve seen it as a nurse where they had a good parent but the kids were messed up maybe inherited gene somewhere or influences around them. Now we got the government acting like their the parent messing their heads up. Then a lousy parent with good kids that visited them in hospital.  You just never know. Something failed in her. Maybe she though it was her duty to have kids she didn’t want. I’m glad you gave them a stable home and they didn’t have to be thrown from one place to another. Right now Theres three cases where the doctors have reported the parents to social service because they refused vaccines and took their newborns right out of the hospital. Kidnapping as far as I’m concerned.

maybe with a little background you might understand better about my view on Feminism .Mainly from experience and not some theoretical esoteric wishy washy stuff.  Ya see the first case was from a sister in Law of my wife, she thought she was smart and independent minded.couldn’t manage her finances and asked if they could come to work for me when I moved to Virginia .I said yes and after 3 years she decided she didnt like living as a mother anymore and wanted her freedom. So she abandoned her children age 4-12 ..Well a judge told her the Husband  would have to continue supporting her and the children ,He knew that and never thought otherwise .She told the judge (in front of the Children) “I dont want them anymore” ..the judge was speechless ,the kids were crying and yet let her out of her obligations. Why Ill never know..the husband never had a bad word with her ,worked 3 jobs (before they moved to Va.)..She told the JUDGE “He was BORING” ….Well she abandoned them and found another GUY.  My wife & I ended up raising 8 kids age 4-12 ,my4 and her 4. Her father told her dont ever come to my house again without those kids. That fell on deaf ears.  She was gone !…Well 20 years later none of the kids ever got into trouble with the Law,none are addicted to anything except smoking for awhile ! All graduated high school 4 from college …So this self styled feminist  lost out on the four greatest kids when they needed her the most but now want very little to do with her .I gave them their first jobs ,taught them to earn their own money and manage it themselves unlike their mother … My wife took them to DR.s when needed looked after them and I saw to their financial needs and the Fathers employment even ,loaned him $5000 to buy a small house near his job.  In that 20 years they never saw the mother..then she shows up one day and wants her kids to get to know her after they are grown. They want nothing to do with her.My wife is more forgiving than I am..

The other Feminist was a niece of my wifes ,another know it all feminist that tried to get the some of the kids to try marijuana while they were in my custody and visited cousins at her house .Well the kids knew our positions on that stuff .They notified us what she was doing ,trying to be popular with the kids knowing it was illegal.

Well I banned her from my house and the kids from ever visiting her again and they all agreed she was wrong.

She now resides in Jail for DUI ..3 offences in Va and you go to jail.

I say they were feminists because they both blamed men as an excuse to do what they really wanted to do and spouted a bunch of feminist crap ..

to AVOID any responsibility for their own actions…..So you see I have 20 years of feminist experience .!

Been there done that !  When a man turns forty he wants either a Mistress or a Sailboat ,I figured the mistress was too expensive so I opted for the Sailboat .Enjoyed it for 25 years & then it got to be more trouble than it was worth .So I got rid of it.I cant imagine how costly the other option would have been…Still married after 59 years!

Yes I know all too well they demand attention, especially the babies or they could die. That is sad to hear. Sometime people have good intentions but just don’t have it in them to care for them like they need.

No cats here.  In my book, cats are not ‘trainable’.  like the old joke… ever try ‘herding cats’?  🙂

I love dogs, but have not had one in my adult life.  No time nor place to care for one while working in a city.  I’m glad I’m retired now and have the time to devote to the bird.  Human-bonded birds need attention to maintain that flock-instinct and continue training.  I have known friends who acquired a bird that they proceeded to ignore in a cage for a long time.  The bird gets lonely, depressed, and downright nasty when you later decide you want to interact with it.  One had a crested cockatoo that got so lonely it pulled out all of it’s feathers.  It looked like a naked chicken sitting on the perch, and would do nothing but bite the nearest hand.

Yep and they are aware of all the killing of inner city non combatants too. Just plain evil. What I didn’t know is Turkey is involved too. That would be good if Trump could bring that up at the debate and what’s really going on, as well as it could lead to WW111.

Hope you don’t have any cats. I could train the dog to leave the cat and rescue cat alone but could never train the cats to leave the rescue birds alone till I got them to the  sanctuary. Not adult ones anyways and there quick. One rescue cat was actually bouncing against the bedroom door trying to open it because he knew there was a baby bird inside. I guess some can manage but I found it difficult.

African Greys are the smartest of all the birds I know of.  An old friend from way back used to breed them at his remote forest home up on a mountain here.  I always admired the ‘greys’.

Pepe’ is an impulsive teenager yet.  Although he is human-bonded, apparently he was never well trained.  He does not know the ‘step up’ command and will bite at fingers, rather than perch on them.  I have to put him on my arm.  There is a flock of wild Amazon parrots around Punchbowl hill in Honolulu… some domestic escapees from years back, and now there is a flock of at least a half dozen wild ones around.  They make a loud, screeching racket when they fly… a screech with every flap of the wings it seems.  Pepe’ must have heard them and picked up their shrill call, as that’s the one he uses when he’s displeased or doesn’t get enough attention.  We’re trying to replace that with a ‘Hello’ for greeting/locator call.  He does a crude ‘hello’ with a two-tone whistle/squeak.   He says a rather clear ‘scratch scratch’ in a low gutteral croak when he presses his head against the cage and wants a ‘scratch scratch’…. which is ALL the time!

About the only thing he really knows how to do is fly to the nearest human and perch on the shoulder… or in the hair.  I have lots of training to do with him yet.
