It must’ve really pissed them off when we came all the way back yesterday

Posted by Buygold @ 6:21 on January 30, 2026

We won’t do that today, but we won’t close down here either – below $100. Too many bank shorts.

Ferret is right, if this is truly a supply shortage, nothing is being resolved by the price dropping below $100. Buyers will come in to pick up every available ounce. If it’s all been speculation, then this is a bubble and we’re going down a lot further.

If someone told me gold would be at $5K at the end of January, I would have kissed them.

Best guess we close between $105-$108 in silver, and $5100-5200 gold.

The shares suck, so they’ll lose 10% no matter what happens. If they do better than that, it’s a gift.

I see as I’ve written silver is back above $100. Hopefully we consolidate for a little above $100 and then let supply figure out what they got. Refineries aren’t moving any faster, some are still shut for maintenance.

The only thing leaving London, NY and Chicago today is paper. They better get it right.

End of the month BS

“marking” once again. Tried and true playbook.

Makes me think when I was a kid in the sixties. Sometimes if the local radio station played a popular song, right at the end of it, a voice would chant “instant replay.” And the song would play again.

Feels like that today for me….

So what’s happened to the structural deficit?

Posted by ferrett @ 4:49 on January 30, 2026

There is no way silver would fall to $100 or $90 or $80 if there really was a shortage.

This looks like a v serious test……in PM’s….could have a major consolidation here…..of the entire move.

and now $ 5 K gold goes as does $ 100 silver…..

Everything ugly

Posted by Buygold @ 3:07 on January 30, 2026

Over Kevin Warsh as Fed Head? I don’t buy it. Not that Trump won’t pick another swamp creature for the Fed, we know he will. I don’t buy he’s the reason everything is melting down tonight except the dollar.

SM, Bonds, Bitcoin, oil, commodities are all getting hit for the apparent safety of the dollar.

This would explain why the shares didn’t come back with the metals yesterday though.

Funny how it always happens around a Fed meeting. Will this be the start of the SM crash finally?

Shanghai am fix was $131.88, now the pm fix has come in all the way down at $125.35. $10 down from last night. Which is about where spot is right now, $10 down.

Gonna be ugly.

if so, please post it.

thanks in advance.

And the dealers’ spreads are once again justified.

Posted by ferrett @ 23:30 on January 29, 2026

A rumour within a hint within a whisper says so-and-so might be almost certainly possibly be Trump’s preferred FedRes chair who is supposed to be a hawk but we know will last less time than a tariff if he isn’t a dove, so everything crashes. Yawn.

Right! All the reasons for this bull market still exist. This is a minor speed bump in the big picture.

Yeah that’s right. I’m just tired and have a bit of PTSD on R/S then delisting when I was one of the few prepared for a crash so any messing with the shares and Im like what??? Hope I have more time for a shopping list of any undervalued if any on any  pull backs along the way.

The  market knows, the shorts knows the debt is still there, QE is still going on and the central banks are buying gold, the interest in treasuries will drop, the Fed will print to buy them when no one else does, the demand for commodities, a possible recession etc etc. Now a Home Depot is closing in Atlanta due to housing situation, amongst other stores.

Buygold, you mean they’ve got it back to where it was 30 hours ago?

Posted by ferrett @ 20:48 on January 29, 2026

They’ll have to work harder than that to cause me any concern.

I’m not worried whatever the accounting it’ll be there somewhere.

NGD holders are going to receive a bit less than half a CDE share per NGD share in the deal.

Gonna be a battle

Posted by Buygold @ 20:30 on January 29, 2026

They’ve got gold down and working hard on silver.

Mr Copper I wondered if you got a power out. Yeah I agree don’t go through that again. None of us should.

Ipso those numbers don’t add up.

aufever, after last night in gold, and silver any day since Christmas,

Posted by ferrett @ 19:29 on January 29, 2026

we can see why! In AUD yesterday’s candle was from $7,300 to $7,942, a spread of $642. That’s more than some of my stuff cost …..

We’ve got to remember that these dealers don’t care about gold, silver, fundamentals, charts, tea leaves, chicken entrails or r#$@y m&%^#ys: to them it’s just profit, loss, margin and cash flow. Zero sentiment.

Game back on

Posted by Buygold @ 19:25 on January 29, 2026

Silver up near $4, gold $80

My buddy just sold 4K maples without issue @ $107 but that was $5 below spot. No doubt more sellers than buyers.

The note about banks not funding transactions is concerning. Effing banks.

@goldilocks re CDE

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 19:22 on January 29, 2026

I thank you for the info. So far I’m ok with CDE , I have 8,200 shares and I’m up $100k or 98% profit on it. So I have plenty of downside room to cash out if it starts sliding.

That stock CDE and AG were very annoying to me and went way under water until recently. And the next time they all start sliding I’ll cash out most of shares because I don’t want to go thru any more long corrections.

Actually, I didn’t confirm they had already shipped.
But that was the impression I had. I assume that’s how it has usually been done – lock a price, ship to the buyer/refiner/etc., then get paid. Now they are having trouble even locking a price.

All the navies are there together. Let’s have a party!

US carrier fleet off Straights of Hormuz with more assets on the way.

Iran, Russia and China to conduct joint exercises in the Sea of Oman and the Indian Ocean over the coming days.

aufever, yes, I reckon it’s true.

Posted by ferrett @ 18:39 on January 29, 2026

Our main dealer has the same problem, a 20% spread is necessary to give them confidence that they can buy/sell to cover. He would charge me less commission if he knew he had a buyer for my stuff. None of our dealers would suffer the problem of not being paid though. I don’t know anyone who delivers the stuff without payment. Our dealer won’t even see a new person for a large amount without a recommendation.

Looks like a (another) way for the banks to tamp down the market …

Posted by ipso facto @ 18:09 on January 29, 2026

Sounds like a lot but I don’t think it’s much different than others.

Could this be true?

Posted by aufever @ 18:02 on January 29, 2026

Called my local coin dealers yesterday. There are a lot more sellers than buyers. Both said cannot get locked in prices from their wholesale buyers/suppliers, nor firm time frames.
Both waiting for payments of metals already shipped. Similar to what we have been hearing. Really hit home being two I have done lots of busines with for many years. I did hear about another one who is buying, which I confirmed. (Have a friend who wants to sell around 20 100 oz bars as part of a property purchase. No, the seller won’t accept in exchange as he is also trying to buy a house).
Then I just saw this blurb in a weekly politics/world/governments report I follow, published Monday:
“Furthermore, reports are emerging that major banks are blocking wire transfers into gold and silver dealers — citing “fraud concerns.” The problem is these are blanket restrictions, not case-by-case reviews.”
Wouldn’t surprise me.

I don’t have enough information on the numbers or how they’re working this out. Online it says  New Gold has 791.7 million  shares outstanding. Cde has .. 637.79 million to 642.2 million shares outstanding.

They want to increase share to be  1,300,000,000.
