The pullback could be bigger than you think.

Bond yields and the dollar are about to have Fibonacci corrections higher.

Gold back below $2000 would destroy the retail crowd enthusiasm and set up the real deal next run higher.

Cheers all

DEER79–That $20 VXX march strike is good risk reward! 25% outa the money? Sheeeeeet-! I’ve

Posted by Richard640 @ 12:36 on December 28, 2023

seen VXX go from 12.50 to 60-70 in 3 weeks!  That’s about a 500% move– I also remember a one day spike in the VIX of some 80 pts, if memory

serves me well….when vol gets this beaten down it tends to explode when it finally moves.

You bring up a very interesting topic. As a former equity options trader, implied volatility was

an extremely important gauge, when trying to discern if an option was perceived to be

undervalued or overvalued.

But by looking at a 5 year chart of the VXX, I understand why one would think that

volatility is not important anymore. I don’t know if that’s because hedge funds somehow

continually short the VXX and VIX (knowing that the FED will continue to implement

measures to perpetuate sky high values in the stock market). And its an election year,

so volatility will be completely squelched to maintain the perception that all is well.

I looked at the out of the money call options on VXX to try and get a sense as to how value

is perceived. You can buy a March 15, 2024  20 strike call on the VXX for just over $1. Sure that’s

some 25% out of the money, but if an imminent downside move is in the cards ( as many claim),

it’s certainly an affordable possible move that investors could make.

When he was in Congress , his office was the only one the K Street lobbyists avoided . It was known that their donations ( bribes ) would be refused .

When he retired , a constituent with a private aircraft offered to fly him back to TX. TSA type government thugs ‘inspected’ the aircraft for five hours before releasing it for take off . Those involved should be named publicly .

The weekly RSI on VXX is 15.60….but the question is=is RSI a buggy whip? Does it really matter?

I cut him some slack on the vax issue. I agree that medical is not his strong suit, and he did what executives do; they rely upon their advisors to provide the information to make decisions. And who were his advisors? Fauci et al. ‘Nuff said.

As to the neocons, I think he knows where he went wrong. I don’t expect him to make similar mistakes again.

GDX

Posted by aurum @ 17:44 on December 27, 2023

There are some troublesome aspects to the GDX chart.  There are overlapping waves on the rally and lately the volume has fallen off.  Of course that can be attributed to Holiday volume.  And moves can begin with overlapping waves but still it gives pause.  Nonetheless, even with another dip down it still looks like a bigger bull market.  So I guess I will not try to trade the dip if it comes but buckle up and take the ride.  Or maybe sell a few and rebuy.

The EV Graveyard Reckoning, Hardly Anyone Wants to Buy a Used One

The market for used EVs is plummeting. What will car rental companies do with the used ones? Problems started in China but have spread to Europe and the US.

A subsidy-fueled boom helped build China into an electric-car giant but left weed-infested lots across the nation brimming with unwanted battery-powered vehicles.

On the outskirts of the Chinese city of Hangzhou, a small dilapidated temple overlooks a graveyard of sorts: a series of fields where hundreds upon hundreds of electric cars have been abandoned among weeds and garbage.

Similar pools of unwanted battery-powered vehicles have sprouted up in at least half a dozen cities across China, though a few have been cleaned up. In Hangzhou, some cars have been left for so long that plants are sprouting from their trunks. Others were discarded in such a hurry that fluffy toys still sit on their dashboards.

Yeah he actually got booed at one of his rally’s for mentioning that but it was awhile ago. At least he’s didn’t want to mandate. I realize he’s probably clueless on medical and became his  Achilles Heel and allow emergency use as long as safe and double win for the left during the election who then unconstitutionally mandated it on everyone.
remember too all the panicked people who demanded it and shut downs and masks on everyone and in their reckless regard expected others to take it too.
The neocons at the time with ISIS and terrorism rising appeared needed and also not dragged on and on in perpetual war. After which some of the neocons  wanted just that like Bolton and more he started putting stops choosing peace with strength, as far as I know. A private pay per view write up someone I know purchased it by Armstrong said he knows who that are.
My concern is in real estate and he should know what Black Rock and other Wall Street players are up to although he deals in buildings not buying domestic real estate. What is he going to do about them, and foreign buyers buying up our land includes farm land.
I know he’ll deal with the borders who will also cause more housing and neighborhood problems with housing including schools,  hospital, jobs, inflation and more resources  and already  they’re running out of places to house them and  kicking citizens even out of assisted living by these morons.

So … you don’t think people believe in higher gold! They’ve been beaten down so long they don’t quite believe it and think it’s some sort of spike? I think you are right and we are due for a multi year climb. We’ve waited long enough!

Nobody’s perfect but a couple of things I don’t like about Trump are his support for the vaccine and his choosing of a bunch of neocons for his first cabinet. Makes me wonder a bit.

@ipso facto re your Yeah the POG is looking good but the shares are lagging.

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 13:03 on December 27, 2023

My thoughts? There could be some tax law selling, but what I suspect has happened, for a long time, is there has not been a long steady multi year rise in Gold Prices since the 2011 and 2012 highs of $1800 and $1900.

Since that time, Gold hit $2000 in 2020, 2022, early 2023, and recently, fourth time, made a highest of all highs at $2150. So I think Gold is way past due for a multi year climb, and its coming very soon, after going past $2200 its going to continue climbing like the 2009 to 2012. era, and the miners should do great.
