I left in the 80s to the mountains from LA and when I left computers were basically for medical or corporate information. After a bad quake in 71 I worried like others about them not having back up charts if they start putting everything on computers. When I came back in the 90s to the city still in the north though I was surprised at how far they came. I was so far behind I didn’t even know what a mouse was or did. As far as medical info, maps etc I thought that was great. So many were going into computers and spending hours learning it. Then the outsourcing and like you say others dominating took over and wondered what happen to all those people who spent all that time learning computer programming and what ever else they were learning went. I thought that was pretty messed up what they did to them. Now they’re probably going to try to do the same with AI killing both blue and white collar jobs. It should be meant to assist not replace. Any more than that I hope the people reject it like they did Bud Light and Cracker Barrel.
I remember those computers.
