The Milwaukee Road extended ‘lines west’ to the PacificNW
To cut several days off transit time to Chicago from other
Roads. Faster service big selling point. But the mountain route
Was steep thru Montana and Idaho. They electrified
This section, and these monsters were the helpers to
Tow freight over the mountains.
