Farmboy is tired of shovelling coal, so I got a set of Diesels for him this week. The Fireman’s job on a Diesel locomotive is not to shovel coal. But he is still responsible for keeping the engine ‘fired’ or running. With a reliable diesel engine there is little for the fireman to do. Just give the man Farmboy’s credit card here and ‘fill ‘er up’. Yes… all five locomotives please. That’s 4900 gallons times five… We have a long week’s haul ahead on the Gold Train.
