The author greatly overestimates the intelligence and awareness of the elites. Just as city slickers think milk comes out of a bottle, these people think electricity comes out of a socket. End of story. They not only don’t consider how it got into the socket, or where it came from, they, literally, have no concept of anything beyond plugging in the kettle and getting hot water. Magic.
But the brilliance of the whole EU construct is that no-one can be held accountable, so that hiding behind networks of committees the instigators of this misery remain nameless, using ultra-naive green and leftist politicians as the frontmen pushing their policies of despair.
