I decided to see if Cal Worthington held the record for the longest running commercial salesman. There was a contender and Cal would probably win the longest most comical entertaining salesman.

The longest-serving commercial car salesman in California, holding a Guinness World Record for a male car salesperson, was Bernard “Deane” Salter, who worked at Reynolds Buick GMC in West Covina for over 54 years, from 1958 until at least 2012, becoming a local icon known for his dedication. While Cal Worthington was famous for decades of zany commercials, Salter holds the record for longevity in a single dealership, recognized by Guinness for his exceptionally long career in sales.
Key Details about Deane Salter:
  • Record: Longest career as a male car salesperson (54 years, 4 months).
  • Location: Reynolds Buick GMC Isuzu in West Covina, California.
  • Career Start: January 29, 1958.
  • Recognition: Recognized by Guinness World Records in 2012.
  • Legacy: Known as a dealership icon, simply called “Salter,” he was still working at age 85.
Comparison to Cal Worthington:
  • Cal Worthington (died 2013) was famous for his energetic, long-running advertising campaigns across California for over 50 years, featuring animals and wild stunts, but Salter holds the record for continuous service at one dealership.

I don’t think there’s a babyboomer and more before and after who lived in California at anytime doesn’t know who Cal Worthington was. I remember back in the 60s he surprised everyone with a elephant. I’m surprised he didn’t call it his horse Trigger. He was a character.

How many doors has GOD closed in your life?? And how many times did it turn out to be for your own good?? Think about it!

Cap’n, yep, 10th December.

Right as the school holidays begin, anyone 16 and over has to verify that they are, indeed, over fifteen. Somehow. It will be interesting to see how the sudden elimination of FB, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok etc. affects all the pupils just looking to veg out for six weeks. And those, like my 34 y/o son-in-law, whose baby face stops him buying alcohol in person without photo id (and the limit here is 18)!

Nah. Not there.

But then, a Ford dealership wouldn’t have a Merc 300D. EMF proof, doesn’t use electrics to run at all. Also generally regarded as all round bullet proof.

Who was it looking for that special car?????

Better get down to Worthington Ford. I bet they still have some of these “acres and acres” of beauties on the lot…or maybe not!  3 minutes to take your pick!

It only shows they’re up to no good. Like next time they roll out a bioweapon they don’t want people exposing them or  interfering with their killing spree or challenging or  interfering with their propaganda schemes. They wanted to jail people for challenging climate change propaganda.

treefrog @ 9:45….Sure reminds me of the first barn and storage unit I built when we moved off the grid almost 50 years ago.

Posted by silverngold @ 12:22 on December 6, 2025

No chimney though, because the upper story was a hay loft for 5000 square bales, and the ground level was a combination of milking stanchions and calving pens inside the barn, and outside was covered equipment stalls for tractors, balers, and other storage about the same as you have pictured, but galvanized tin roofing. I hand milked 2 to 3 cows twice daily and sold the raw milk to the local community….and seldom had enough….but when we had excess we churned our own butter and drank the buttermilk.

That was the start of a most wonderful life of freedom to build the life I wanted. It was all hard work but it was Silverngold!

… it’s getting out of control … it’s just like COVID … the private companies rolling this crap out have no liability if your data is stolen … that right there is a show stopper …

Not to mention privacy … control state … and everything else that is wrong with this power/money grab.

Screw them

re-roofing.  i see they are putting the traditional galvanized panels up on the barn.  this summer was re-roofing time at treefrog manor.  i chose to replace the galvanized with painted steel.  the new coatings actually last better than galvanized, and they come in colors.

in this case, BRIGHT RED!

May be an image of covered bridge

Germany who wants to be the most prosperous after what they did to them, the rest of the EU only will see Karma. They keep making one bad decision after another. Speed up the boat forget about the ice bergs and welfare of the passengers. So they make some money on war machines at what expense to the people and rest of the economy with inflation taxes and open borders. Money will move out, get it in untraditional ways and no incentive to make money there. Then not to mention to want to kill people to get it on a war they will lose.

Meanwhile US is apparently worse off than the UK post WW11 when it started to unravel and move to socialism bringing the problems they have now  after  mismanaged capitalism except US now for different economic reasons. As far as the majority of the people both no longer trust the government. We’re just lucky we have Trump for now but still apparently what’s to come isn’t gonna be a picnic.

I watched a video the other day of a popular PM shop. Buying has now moved from coins to kilos.
