The initial story I heard was from a small hotel where a few passengers found refuge and told the story. But it turns out that the Red Cross stepped up and opened a school gym to shelter some 500 of the passengers, and those interviewed were most grateful for the ‘Aloha’ shown to them. Still… sleeping on a gym floor not the best. But they had bathrooms, and the busses collected them the next morning. One passenger interviewed described arriving at the port only to see the ship leaving with his wife and son onboard. He was a bit distraught, but recognized the emergency and that he would be reunited the next day.
