Loading ...Before it split up into Serbia etc. still very communist. We called in at a town to get food. No bread, that only comes Tuesdays and Fridays. Went to the supermarket (it was not a village, but a small town) and the only things on the shelves were butter and tampons. The country was desperate for foreign currency, and the girls went off to the duty free store to get some Martini – they came back with three bottles. Why? because it was three bottles for one pound, and they didn’t give change. It was probably three pounds for one bottle in Britain back then.
