A mate of mine set up and ran a bible school in Khartoum. He had a class of ~50 local pastors, and one day asked them to list all the reasons why they beat their wives. Each one he wrote on a Post-it note and stuck it on the board. The discussion was vigorous but he noticed that one guy wasn’t taking part. Once the chatter and suggestions had petered out he asked the outlier why he didn’t have any comments, and his reply was simply “I’m a Christian. I don’t beat my wife.”
Introducing 8m migrants from MENA to the Orthodox Church wouldn’t be a culture clash – it’d be a culture chasm.
