There’s a difference between living near a volcano where land management, having enough water and firemen will make much difference in saving homes in the path of a lava flow. Maybe individual houses from flying lava rocks like cannons.

When  I asked Maya about putting up barriers so the lava can go around it during that eruption awhile back he said the lava can go under it. That gave me some nightmare of standing on a roof with a water hose calling 911 saying I need a helicopter I’m being surrounded and some worthless person I was talking to I knew I was waisting time I’m doomed but then saw a path out and took it. Lol A few other woman I mentioned that to said the same thing. They’d just put up a barrier. Lol

If they had anyone besides these morons in state and government offices they could make plans to assure there was land management clearing the dead brush left from the long drought, keep it managed, get enough water and at leAst half the water Newscum blocked would of probably been enough  instead of draining Nevada’s lakes putting their state at risk of running out of water, putting up more fire hydrants, enough firemen, teaching homeowners to keep brush away from their houses not next to it, fire retardant roofs like some tile roof homes survived and other fire retardant deals or offered to home owners instead of climate change BS and electric cars where they use up all the water trying to put out the flames from the battery which water feeds it and they need to figure that out with another solution and getting those cars away from the house trees and streets and a plan in place as well as reinforcement from other areas before the fires grow in size..

Then add some demand or insurers to have to insure a certain amount of homes in certain zip codes by different insurers while keeping the prices down.  In Hawaii they are zones in Calif theyre zip codes that should be  divided amongst multi insurers so the burden shouldn’t all be on a few remaining insurers with the knowledge’ that the city’s are well managed this wouldn’t of  happened the way it happened

The insurers saw the city under these demos was a accident waiting to happen in the absence of grossly competent management spending more on illegals piling in heading straight to welfare offices or crimevand who knows what mixed homeless everywhere starting fires to stay warm, arsonists, and with fire and wind risks by itself and pulled out. Nos it’s up to multi billions a few companies are going to be burdened with.

Someone on TV said years back he applied to be a fireman in LA and was capable. They told him they’re priority demands by the leftist to exclude white Americans to non white and LGBT they promote despite no level of competence just like that mayor their not supposed to mention that word. To come back in seven years. Seven years later he got a letter at his parents house as he moved on in construction during that time He went to the interview and there was a line of people. There was a woman of color who was behind him barley 5 ft tall and he ask her how long ago did she apply and she said to him last Wednesday. What a waist if time playing games with the real world and the safety of others.

This was a Biggie

Best of all worlds?

This can’t be real.

Apparently the numbers must have been strong on the jobs front. The dollar is soaring, and yet after taking the initial hit, we have recovered plus some.

What’s even more impressive is that the SM has continued to fall.

I haven’t checked much else, but is it finally our time?

Re Oil…the price we trade is the spot price…..Trump may drill baby drill, but it takes a long time to get the stuff out, and that is after you find it and now that ubber shiite Obummer has got Biden to ban vast amounts of off shore waters, from exploration….and although Trump can overturn the ban….with another executive order, because it has been banned, an opening can be challenged much more easily in the courts and tame judges, will likely agree and make the whole process a legal nightmare……especially in time.

Looking good early

Posted by Buygold @ 6:32 on January 10, 2025

Not exactly off to the races, but coupled with some small gains we had yesterday, prices are firm. Shares are firm too, they look good.

All this can and probably will change when the jobs report comes out in a couple of hours. They are looking for a miss on the numbers, we’ll see.

Regardless, the dollar is flat to up a smidge, the 10 yr. is up a bip. Bitcoin is raging back, up $3K. Can’t kill that beast, I guess.

The real action this am is in the oil market. Oil up another $2 to around $76 a barrel. Not what Trump was hoping to see. The power of the paper markets is something to behold. All an illusion of phony money and wealth, but we did it to ourselves, and now they use it against us.

LurkerSince95 @ 23:36 – Fire Insurance

Posted by Maya @ 0:32 on January 10, 2025

I live on an active Hawaiian Volcano.  Areas on this island are ‘zoned’ by lava risk.  Zone 1 “May erupt at any time”.  Zone 2 “Subject to possible downflows of Lava”, etc. up to Zone 8.  I live on the lava flow of 1840, hence ‘Lava Zone 2’.  Insurance companies will not touch my zone.  Without insurance, one cannot get a mortgage on a home here.  All transactions are cash.   This keeps the riff-raff and speculators out, and prices are reasonably affordable.  You take the risk upon yourself.  I cashed in my retirement funds (portable real estate) and bought the Volcano Ranch here when a lava flow in 2014 was threatening the nearby village only five miles away.  People were trying to sell out and move away, with no buyers.  My home had been hurricane damaged the year before, and a local ‘flipper’ had fixed it up and was trying to sell it.  I took the bet and offered him a lowball price… and I got it!  “Buy when there’s lava flowing in the streets”… or something like that.  The lava flow stopped and spared the village.  My home is now worth four times what I paid, but I cannot sell.  This is my retirement castle.

Oh, yeah, instead of insurance I invested in fire extinguishers… lots of ’em.  🙂

QUESTION?

Posted by LurkerSince95 @ 23:36 on January 9, 2025

do you have fire insurance on your home/business?

with 9,000 structures destroyed—–what insurance companies are going to survive???????

Dozens of cars abandoned.

Posted by goldielocks @ 21:08 on January 9, 2025
This  Mayor and  Newsom didn’t have a emergency plan either that’s not surprise. Like we saw in Maui now California needs common sense police not like Maui where they blocked them from evacuating and bulldozers handy to remove any obstacles in the roads including debris to keep traffic moving when people are evacuating fast moving fires or any other reason. They didn’t act in time here as all these people already had to abandon their cars. What I noticed years back going toward the danger of a risk of a gas explosion to work I was stuck in one place for a hour because the hwy was blocked diverting traffic to one road with a stop sign long story short one line was illegally cutting in front of the other lane because it was the lane to be in to turn left so basically cutting in  including gov cars I noticed and no one there to stop it. They all want to be where the action is and that’s what happens.

Bitcoin down another $4K – over 4%%

PM’s holding their ground surprisingly. Oil up over 1%

Has the world finally decided that “real stuff” is what they want to be in?

We could sure use some of that crypto money in our tiny sector. But I digress, it’s just air. 🙂

The firemen

Posted by goldielocks @ 12:02 on January 9, 2025

I heard some of these firemen have been going for 90 hours. That has got to be a record. I’m guessing they weren’t their Dei picks and hopefully not because of them. Where was their relief?  I’m sure there was police out there too putting in long hours protecting neighborhoods and maybe helping them. It reached Sylmar too surrounded by mountains and fool house builders buil houses in those mountains with no fire barriers between the brush and their houses  and only one winding road out.

Posted by goldielocks @ 10:47 on January 9, 2025

These food chains need to get together and bring these firemen  out food and drinks but preferably not too much sugar drinks that will dehydrate them. Gallons of flavored Pedialyte .  Not to mention enough reinforcements so they can rotate. They’re working to exhaustion and not safe for them. Where is El President’s. I guess his unelected in- equity handlers has no clue. The mayor should resign. I hear on the news insurance company’s drop them in those areas. I remember hearing something about that awhile back. Makes me suspect a land grab is taking place. Someone needs to ask Newsom if he’s going to give these people who lost their homes housing vouchers for a year.

Thanks for your thoughts. If you ever have that problem in your family tell them to ask to see a infectious disease doctor so they can zero in on it. They can work together. I had to safe a finger of mine once myself but after he saw the X-rays after the doctor said it was okay  he took me away from them all together and gave me three months off with IVs.

Yes wound care training is a field in itself. I got kind of pushed into it because they thought I had the gift and good results and mentioned how gentile I was with the patients when doing wound care. They told me the average time span of a wound nurse was 5 yrs. I ask them why talking to a bunch of consults some of which would be mentors they said it’s hard on their backs. One doctor told me I was probably one of the best wound nurses in the state maybe the whole United States. I was just a learned collection of all the doctors and consultants I think. But now I can’t help my own daughter too much although did get infections disease and cultures involved except they didn’t do the flap. They could realize that good wound care is important. If you have good surgeons and the work the first one did to save the function in her hands plus her shattered leg minus who ever handled and gave him contaminated hardware that if your going to create a masterpiece you don’t want someone coming along to mess it up and could be anyone in the hospital and why you need wound nurses to recognize things as smallest detail every cell they see. She wasn’t getting that let alone should of been everyday.
