The weather you have in Oklahoma is unreal…..a mate told me the other day, they had a thunder storm pass through, that ripped off the front of a building…that was built out of brick….and that was just a run of the mill thunder storm,,,,no tornado or anything really bad !!!!

Good for you!  Suggest earplugs though if you have a hailstorm hammer your metal roof.  When I have heavy rains here hammering mine, the roar drowns out the TV at max volume!   🙂

Insurance scam

Posted by redneckokie1 @ 21:15 on January 11, 2025

The numbers in the fire insurance business are pretty simple. Out of all premium dollars, 40% go to pay claims and 60% go to administrative costs. Insurance premiums must go up double the future costs of claims.

Now the dirty little secrets. Insurance companies must keep a reserve/claims ratio. When that ratio gets out of balance, the insurance companies must reinsure their risks. These reinsurance companies take on risks from all over the country. A catastrophe loss can absorb the reserves of an insurance company very quickly and the reinsurance companies have to cough up enough money to cover claims.

Now for the dirty little questions. What are the insurance company’s reserves invested in ? Have they lost significant market value ? What are the reinsurance companies reserves invested in ? Market value ? How often have the reinsurance companies had to pay up lately for all the tornados, hurricanes, floods and wildfires ? Who will bail out the reinsurance companies?

It should be painfully obvious by now that insurance premiums are going to skyrocket from already unaffordable levels. We are all going to be paying those catastrophic premiums to reinsurance companies through local insurance companies.

In Oklahoma, 85% of homeowner claims are for hail roof damage. The other 15% is tornado and fire damage.

What can make it uninsurable is the likes of these clueless representative scammers aided by fake news bias media to get elected by people not using common sense like Newsom and that mayor in LA who don’t deserve their position or paycheck. I’m sure they were aware of what Newsom, Pelosi and their woke cronies did to San Francisco. Ties if streets with businesses boarded up. Might as well set fire. Pelosi was responsible for selling the water to a crony in central farmland where he raised the prices with no over sight and people lost their farms and created a dust bowl. They’re parasites.  They made a perfect storm for multi disaster scenarios be crime, open borders, running out of water even to drink, floods, fires,  endangering tax paying citizens and putting them at risk. Insurers aren’t stupid, saw it and and some pulled out. Now the fires are spreading to Brentwood and San Fernando Valley. The difference in brush fires compared to forest fires with falling trees and crackling infernos, this is it’s quieter, fast moving with the wind helping people think it’s wind and rain outside and it’s fire and sneaks up on them many barely escaping.

Insurance

Just been reading a substack by someone complaining he can’t get hurricane insurance and likening it to fire insurance in Cal., and pointing out that insurance companies are not allowed to cancel policies in the affected postcodes for one year.

Thinking about the cancellations, what a – pointless? – lunatic? – empty, limelight grabbing? – stupid? – I really don’t know, idea. Nobody will be renewing their policies if the house has burnt down. And if they had miraculously managed to rebuild within 12 months, it would be a new policy. If you are a lucky one and it hasn’t burnt down, it’s not gonna burn in the next couple of years now anyway. All aside from the fact that government shouldn’t be interfering in these matters.

Which leads into his initial problem, where he claims he is “a homeowner who can no longer obtain hurricane insurance”. Later on he talks about “uninsurable risk”. He gives a visual of the last 11 years of states where home insurance was unprofitable. The worst year was 2023 where in 18 states, insurers lost money. Well, that means that in the worst year, they made money in 32 states! And California only made the unprofitable list twice in 2017 and 2018. Although there does seem to be a bit of a Blue bias overall, Texas made it three times and Florida five. But, but, this is how insurance works! You lose in some places and at some times, and win in the others! If it was always profitable everywhere all the time, policy holders are being scammed, premiums are too high and in a competitive market cheaper players would come in.

So what is an uninsurable risk (maybe tourist trips to the Titanic in a fibreglass sardine tin would be one)? My experience with insurances might be out of date, but it used to be the case that there was no risk that someone, somewhere, wouldn’t take on. Sure, if you’re the little pig living in the straw house in the Caribbean 99% of insurers might decline, but somewhere you’d find someone who would assess the risk and give you a proposed premium, which you probably would not like. But, you wouldn’t be uninsurable. Very expensive does not equal uninsurable.

Hopefully some good news at last on Ukraine

It’s hard to believe it went this far. More than 20 dead as another one found just now being verified. Fires still blazing and winds to pick up tonight. They need a better disaster and rescue plan including for animals. These horses should of been mired out and somewhere to go right away. When one of my brothers barn got blown away with tornados coming through the neighbors came out and helped gather the horses and gave them shelter. Luckily none were hurt besides a few scrapes. In the city your on your own so should plan ahead of time. This is just ridiculous.

Both Newscum and Major should step down but they probably won’t. Throw the bums out but hope they don’t just replace them with more of the same, including Rino’s. This time I hope they listen to their experience and policy’s not their pronouns and if they even mention  climate change a hard no.

Just saw your video. Three years? Some of those people and Celebs like Anthony Hopkins in his late 80s don’t have three years to be waiting around. England isn’t doing much better with their government. Least they have the money or other homes. They didn’t think of all the people who lost their homes in other ways like refusing mandatory  jab, others the side effects from it, the place they worked or the business they had shut them down, or their cancel culture, then inflation. None of that affected them. What’s going to happen to these other people. The fires still going and looks to want to take out the whole county

Another missing link to survival

They should warn those who can’t pull up their garage door opener without power and their heavy because if the power goes out there not gonna work and won’t be able to get their car out of the garage and if they don’t have a bike at least they’re gonna be trapped there.

That’s right and Newscum made it worse and more expensive. He thinks he’s King be and when they had the chance to stop him they never did because they already had their homes. Those fire places you see, no mass. If it doesn’t come with one you don’t get one. Those standing they’d be wize not to knock it down if they can get past it. Not even electric because they rely on gas. He wants all electric. The permits are going to be more difficult and be scrutinizing every step along the way and have to wait for them and that’s when there wasn’t thousands.

It might just be terrorist cells. These democrats made it easy for them. Drained water reserves, blocking water for fish not even splitting it up. . BTW Newscum was seen walking around with a fish bowl saying he at least saved the fish. Defunding the fire department and opened the borders and spending more money on migrants than infrastructure. Not clearing the out dead brush. Picked a windy part of the year. Back in the day the wind would knock down antennas everywhere. Trash can blown down the street. I opened a umbrella once to see if I could fly.. That’s the kind of wind when those hot shots got killed in Sylmar. They did everything the opposite of what they should have. It’s like a paradox.

Now they let  crazy arsonist trying to burn down a apartment building probably with kids inside, back on the street with all this going on. Just can’t make this S up. This autocorrect has a sensor of humor.

Comedian and podcaster Adam Carolla put out an insightful video rant about just how difficult it will be to rebuild, even if you had homeowner’s insurance — or happened to be a very wealthy Hollywood actor.

A few days ago, Iran said something…

Posted by Maya @ 1:48 on January 11, 2025

… vague, about how in a few days things would dramatically change in the USA.  And they were not talking about a new president.   I suspect the LA fires are terror cells at work, under foreign direction.

Of course, as Goldi indicated, the ‘wokees’ in charge will never figure that out.

With all the talk about National Security, nuclear war, and defenses, Navy, Army, Air Force… who knew you could take out the second largest city in America with brush fires?!  Perhaps Iran knew?

“…since when was investing in PM’s while living on an active volcano the quite life !!!!!!”

LOL! It’s all a matter of perspective.
I was a high-stress active TV Engineer in crowded Honolulu for 40 years, hating the big city stress and working so I could retire to the countryside… on an active volcano. Mainly because it was cheap and far from the tourists and madding crowd. I really do live a low stress life. A lot has to do with geologic familiarity and history of the volcano here. Madam Pele is my friend. I know her and respect her. And stacking physical during my working career was what enabled this laid-back jungle life!

On Friday the big four banks in Oz (which are smaller than one of your medium sized banks) were all champing at the bit for a rate cut in Feb. Cast iron, dyed in the wool certainty. Then last night rates shot up .16% on our 10yr bond and the currency dropped half a US cent.

See if any of them have the guts to admit they were wrong on Monday.

I still find it hilarious that anybody still thinks that CBs have any control over rates. A cunning central banker (a good central banker is, of course, an oxymoron) is able to follow market rates from in front, giving the impression that they are controlling the numbers. Jay has lost that one. Rates started rising after his first cut last year and never looked back.

Gibson, Joe Rogan, ( recording) and Tyrus who grew up in California. He’s not lying about the fire rules of southern California but vote for the woke morons BS.

This DEI training or what ever they call it is such a farce, it’s a bad joke. They are using  color or pronouns to get people to cater to and make excuses for them. If they aren’t competent enough to do the job they’re applying that’s their problem not the ones who can. Just like these posers that get office by checking the boxes Tyrus mentions,  they not only not qualified  do their job they’re  taking advantage of it. They don’t even seem to have a conscious. Without their pre written unless speeches they cannot function on a interpersonal level because they have no competence or thoughts worth anything of their own. Il
Newscum got caught lying when that mom wanted to know what he was going to do and showed his ignorance when he was on the phone to the president ” like senile Joe would know anyways’   to tell his phony ask what to do to pass the buck and lied about that to when she told him to put him on speaker then said he couldn’t get through. It must of been Joe’s  nap time. Imagine these fools if this was A major terror attack burning the city down and killing the people, if it wasn’t already, they’d make it easy for them. They’d be the first ones getting out of town. What is it gonna take to wake these people up and stop voting for them?  They actually think they can just find another lying demo who checked the boxes they were told to vote for because those are the right people lol lol lol  so I don’t think they have learned. They are also responsible for causing  this because they voted in and allowed it to happen without a conscious of their own probably thinking what they always think, it will never happen to them. So their just as guilty.
