Former President and CEO of now bankrupt precious metals firm convicted of mail and wire fraud for Ponzi-type scheme
Seattle – The former President & CEO of Northwest Territorial Mint, a now-bankrupt company dealing in precious metals, was convicted today in U.S. District Court in Seattle of 14 federal felonies resulting from a Ponzi-like scheme that defrauded customers of millions of dollars, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Tessa M. Gorman. After more than three weeks of testimony and evidence, the jury deliberated about two days before convicting Bernard Ross Hansen, 60, aka Ross B. Hansen of multiple counts of wire and mail fraud. The jury also convicted Vault Manager Diane Renee Erdmann, 48, of 13 counts of wire fraud and mail fraud following the trial. Sentencing for both Mr. Hansen and Ms. Erdmann is scheduled for October 29, 2021.

Last week I got a text by the department of health asking me if I was vaxxed or not. Although the they’res things I’d like to say including none of your business I didn’t answer and suggest others don’t either even if vaxxed and not make things easy for them including not making it a norm violating their privacy.

Thor Explorations hits Nigeria’s first commercial gold output
Nigeria said its efforts to cut dependence on oil earnings reached a milestone as the country’s first industrial gold project entered production.
Thor Explorations Ltd. poured first gold from its Segilola mine in southwestern Nigeria on Friday, according to a statement. The plant, which will now ramp up over the next six weeks, is targeting output of 85,000 ounces a year, the company said.

Fledgling Peru govt seeks “new deal” with miners
Peru will seek “a new deal” with its all-important mining sector by providing incentives for projects with “social profitability” in the world’s No. 2 copper producer, new Energy and Mining Minister Ivan Merino told Reuters.
In his first interview since becoming minister on Thursday, he said mines not only need to make money for private companies and generate tax revenue. They should also help the population through improved infrastructure, respect for indigenous communities and better environmental protection, he added.
“A new deal will come out of conversations with all players in the sector, including large, medium and small-scale companies,” Merino said in his office late Friday, a day after taking office with other cabinet members appointed by leftist President Pedro Castillo.
