Maddog, Aurum – I think you both may be right

Posted by Buygold @ 11:25 on January 31, 2021

Whether it’s now or later is always and always has been the question. Personally I have held and watched gains evaporate far too many time over the last couple of decades and knowing the “now or later” question has always evaded me.

Food for thought:

Futures begin at 2:30 pm est. today.  When and if the rig is broken we should be sitting pretty in shares and physical.  Good time to be a bug.

Re GameStop Chart Pattern and Their Media

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 10:43 on January 31, 2021

I started noticing very strange up-spike chart patterns maybe 6 moths ago. My thoughts were it’s related to those multi million dollar algorithmic trading computers.

So, we could say the GameStop up-spike chart was simply the first time a chart like that got on prime time TV. With a story. “Small traders get revenge and attack and kill big Hedge Fund managers”

This is a great David and Goliath media story for ratings too. And knowing the history of how their Media operates, they tend to direct or funnel people’s attention in a different direction on purpose. After all, why give honest smart and info with value for free.

So let’s ask ourselves, why didn’t their media ever mention the unfairness and mindless stock price manipulation of those trading machines the hedge funds use???

Maybe those machines need to be banned, like a 20 or 30 round high capacity magazine. After all, they have no place in a stock market where stock values are supposed to be determined by research, not something that hits the “news” which triggers the machine.

I also don’t think it’s right or legal for a stranger or person to sell shares, or bullion, that they don’t even own. It doesn’t make sense. @seattlesun years ago coined it “a casino economy” long ago on Vronsky’s site.

If somebody wants to bet on a lower price, there should be a different way to do it like buying super bowl boxes or something, not actually selling shares that helps the gambler help himself be right or win.

“Just Sayin” The local media uses that phrase with their opinions.

PS maybe it was the machines themselves that killed the hedge fund bets. Like suicide. Or like they created a Frankenstein monster and got killed by their own creation. I forget the guys name that invented it (a genius) but he lives out east on Long Island.

Oh I am not abandoning pm’s.  Agreed it is early days.  But I like to set a plan so in the heat of the moment a more thought out action is taken.  I started Fortuna and PSLV positions last week so that if I simply decide to sell AG have other horses.

Actually I have at least a dozen pm positions some though small as are lottery ticket type micros.

But AG is a big position and requires careful thinking. Time for more coffee.

FWIW…….if yr not leveraged then it is very early days, to worry about where we go…..people like the Adens reckon this mkt will run till 2025/26, as of now they think we could still go much lower, as do many others….but the WSB crowd my well be a total game changer, if it is the ride will truly wild, as the scum fight and fight…daily swings massive….something was always going to trigger that 40 year saucer base in silver, that projects prices unto the multiple $ 100’s …this might well be it.

I guess I will use a trailing stop knowing that one of two things will happen.  Either I will be whip sawed out too early or even if not the actual sale price will fall so rapidly to be below my trailing.

Or I could simply sell and not be involved.

Or I could set a stop loss around current price.

If Barney was still alive, he would help me with the decision but I am on my own now.

Aurum – I have the same concerns with AG

Posted by Buygold @ 9:52 on January 31, 2021

as the position has now grown to a third of my portfolio and I really don’t want to give up those gains.

The Robinhood BS will take some upside volume out, I think we saw some of that toward the close Friday.

I could be wrong, maybe they’ll blow up SLV and send it to $75 but after years of beatings I’m always looking for the next one right around the corner.

3 Swiss banks drop unallocated gold to prepare for Basel III rules, London metals trader Maguire says

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

In his latest interview with Shane Morand for Kinesis Money, London metals trader Andrew Maguire explains why the “Basel III” financial stability rules, which are soon to be imposed by the Bank for International Settlements, will push major banks out of the “daisy chain” of unallocated gold contracts and into physical gold holdings by the end of June.

AG

Posted by aurum @ 6:37 on January 31, 2021

Of course I had read about the GME short squeeze and found some entertainment in it.  But now that one of my bigger positions is caught up in it (AG) I have had to seriously think about it.

What is the exit plan?  Perhaps some small accounts don’t care if they are blown up.  But the others?  Eventually the buying will stock and then no regular investor will buy.  How long until someone starts for the door.  It could get very ugly very quickly.

I suspect the hedge funds simply obtained money to cover their margin calls but held their shorts perhaps even adding seeing the train wreck coming.

This has to potential to destroy AG as something I want to be involved with for a long time.

Tell me it ain’t so?

Re stox lending out.

If u have a fully paid share u can demand that yr Broker not lend them out….not sure u can still get the certificates, which really stops any lending, as it is all electronic now, Brokers hate u for doing this, but good ones will ……Any other type of account, such as a Margin account, lets yr broker do as they wish….u also cannot stop a Fund lending the shares out either.
