Sounds like it would take a week to recover … but that’s the right way to bring in a New Year!
I’m wondering if there is some deep genetic link between the Scots and the Aussies and it manifests after the third or fourth libation? š

Apparently one person did need the ambulance….he was chatting away and then suddenly fell straight backwards, as he blacked out !!!!!!!!
we did 1 New Year in Scotland and it was insane, we stayed in a hotel, which is pretty much taken over by one group …..they have drinks/parties at lunchtime, then followed by full dress diner in the evening, then dancing into the small hours, then do it again and again, then News Years Eve…which is the biggest session by far…then have a farewell party the day after !!!!!!! It was 5 nights in all……unbelievable.
These guys have done well. Wish I owned em.

Unfortunately no party for us today.

Richard re Economic Growth
re this part:
CBs are openly stating, as official policy, that they will support stock and bond markets with whatever it takesā¦
Comment: Itās not the right approach, plus as the story implies the so called growth cost more than the result.
Why should they support the area of the economy stocks bonds etc, where profits prosperity and savings go?
They should support the start and the birth of wealth. The entry level citizen, after the day he graduates high school and enters the economy.
The support of that group in this man made artificial economy since 1913, was started in 1937 with the minimum wage maximum hours act.
That support ended after 1971 when they took the dollar off gold and and made or rigged, the outsourcing of US manufacturing and other various jobs.
Befor the de-peg in 1971, we quietly lost half our gold supply to savvy foreign nations betweenĀ ā34 and ā71.
After the leaches were cut off, they proceeded to remove our businesses and jobs. After that, removing inflation adjustment support for entry level people, lower real wages, created more jobs to off set all the millions of exported ones.
If the system implodes again like 1929 and 2008, they (big business and banking) may add support again like 1937, for there own good. Of course.
R640 – hate to say it
but all true. USD a little stronger but not enough to justify this.
Today appears to be another WTF moment in a long line of WTF moments.
Smash out of nowhere, no rhyme or reason behind it, other than the scum saying “stay out”
You’re right, this action will turn bullish charts to ugly.
Really is unbelievable

The origin of the Picts is uncertain; some evidence suggests that they were descendants of pre-Celtic aborigines, but some linguistic evidence suggests they spoke a Celtic language. The Picts were first noticed in AD 297, when a Roman writer spoke of the āPicts and Irish [Scots] attackingā Hadrianās Wall. Their warfare with the Romans during the occupation was almost continual. By the 7th century there was a united āPict-land,ā which already had been penetrated by Christianity. In 843, Kenneth IMacAlpin, king of the Scots (centred in Argyll and Bute), became also king of the Picts, uniting their two lands in a new kingdom of Alba, which evolved into Scotland.

The just incase ambulance.I’d worry more about those barbarian caliphate they’re inviting in than the Scots. Scots don’t seem to have those same problems.
Ah, Mel Gibson. Your fiction hath wrought a never-ending fog.
The Scots never painted themselves blue to fight Rome or England. There were no Scots when the Romans sought to head north, and the people who may have used blue paint were the Picts, long gone by the time the English were fought.
When Rome marched north the area now known as Scotland was controlled by the Picts. 10% of Scottish males today carry a recently discovered Pictish genetic marker. This is because as and after the Romans left, Gaels from northern Ireland and the islands moved in on the Picts. These people became the Scots.
Why do some people think the Picts painted themselves blue? Julius Caesar, who never went beyond the southeast of England remarked that, āAll the Britons, without exception, stain themselves with woad, which produces a blueish tint; and this gives them a wild look in battle.ā Couple that with the fact that the Romans who came later called the northern people āPictsā, meaning painted or tattooed, and you get a mighty conflation. We donāt know if the Picts actually did paint themselves. The Romans considered tattoos the act of barbarians and could simply have used the term derogatively. āPictā or āPictiā may have been a Latinization of what those people called themselves. We just donāt know. We know they fought naked. The Romans commented on that, so if they painted themselves, youād think that too would have been recorded.
IF they did, and IF the people of the north used woad as Caesar said the people he saw in the south did, then it would have been blue. And applying war paint to intimidate your enemy was quite common around the world. We donāt know how much of the tattooed or painted Pict is real and how much was simply stereotyping, but we do know the Scots didnāt do it. Except in 1995.
Went down town
Went out to dinner earlier with friends and they took the back roads. I could not believe all the tent cities up everywhere. I knew there was a lot but not cities of them everywhere like LA and San Fran, maybe more. I hope the wild turkeys survive.
Was told Nevada was giving them money and busing them to California. Sacramento probably San Fran maybe LA too. It was going on for awhile before they found out about it. Lol Well they brag about being a sanctuary state so why not lol

ipso facto @ 10:04 on March 13, 2019 Grading on a Curve ! really
first hand knowledge ..at UVAĀ my son had straight A’s in every class for 4 years and graduated second in his class of 2600 students with a degree in Physics .He told me one time about how one class was going to have a tough class on mathematics and calculus ,but the professor told them it would be graded on a curve to see just how much they knew and to test the best of them .! Fair enough they thought…if you scored 80 ,your grade might be 100 on a curve…Well what happened was he scored 100 and most of them got grades of 80 or less on the curve…!
WE l l they were about to lynch him after that experiment ..!
The other top students were all asians ,he was the only white guy in Physics department …
Thats where our colleges are today..That was thirty some years ago .today its even worse..
He went on to get a PHD in Physics at U Cal in San Diego where he was the only white guy in the physics Electrical Engineering dept. I dont say this to bragg ,but to illustrate that grading on a curve can cause some students to threaten others as happened to him..He had real threats against him..

Ten years into this monetary experiment, central banks did create growthā¦
US Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was about $15 trillion in 2008. Current GDP is about $22 trillion. Thatās $7 trillion of economic growth.
Impressive⦠until you figure the cost of that growth.
Over the same period, the US national debt increased from $10 trillion to $22 trillion.
So, it took $12 trillion of debt to create $7 trillion of economic growth.
The marginal utility of all of this new debt is decreasing And itās the same story all over the world.
The US economy is so dependent on cheap money, it canāt even handle 2% interest rates (the Fed hiked rates from 2.25% to 2.5% last December and stocks fell 20%).
But Europe is even worse. Europe has negative interest rates. And the European economy is so weak (it grew 0.2% in Q4), it canāt even handle ZERO percent interest rates.
