That shi* really ticks me off! GD warmongers causing nothing but trouble!

That’s a big point in Trump’s favor. He wants to cooperate with the Russians instead of going to war with them.

Re China to shut down hundreds of coal, steel operations

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 10:43 on September 29, 2016

Like I predicted after 2008. China has over 50 years been turned into a new prosperous “USA”, via US consumer dollars.

And now THEY will be inundated with clean air rules, more regulations, more unneeded tax absorbing gov’t spending, budget and trade deficits, and maybe some nice increased national debt.

Another clear sign of reversal of the past.

See what I mean about big cross border international corporations? The other day it was the Philippines suspending mining licenses, and hurt BTG by about 20%. We all better re-think where our favorite miners are based, and where they have permission to dig and drill.

Extreme pollution forces China to shut down hundreds of coal, steel operations

Posted by ipso facto @ 10:25 on September 29, 2016

China is stepping up its war on pollution by forcing hundreds of coal and steel companies to close or slash output in light of their transgressions to environmental and safety regulations.

The country’s state planner said that after inspecting more than 4,600 coal mines it decided to revoke safety certificates for 28 of them and shut another 286 operations for not complying with environmental and safety regulations.

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) also ordered two steel firms to close permanently, 29 companies to suspend output and another 23 to reduce production, it said in the statement.

Could be BIG. India launching strikes into Pakistan

Posted by ipso facto @ 9:37 on September 29, 2016

India Assets Slide After Modi Launches “Surgical Strikes” In Kashmir, Killing Two Pakistani Soldiers

India conducted “surgical strikes” on suspected terrorist camps just across the border in Pakistan, marking its first direct military response to an attack on an army base it blames on Pakistan. The military offensive was the worst since 1999, when then-Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee – also a member of Modi’s nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party – responded to what he said was repeated cross-border infiltrations by militants in Kashmir.

At the same time, Pakistan said two of its soldiers had been killed in exchanges of fire and in repulsing an Indian “raid”, but denied that India had made any targeted strikes across the de facto frontier that runs through the disputed Himalayan territory of Kashmir.

The region is held equally by India and Pakistan but claimed in full by both. Terrorist violence killed 201 people in Kashmir in 2016, the deadliest year since 2010, according to the South Asia Terrorism Portal.

India’s announcement of the targeted strikes on terror camps in Pakistan is “very significant,” said Shashank Joshi, a fellow at the Royal United Services Institute in London. “India has conducted covert, retaliatory cross-border raids on many occasions in the 1990s and 2000s, but to prominently announce them is a provocative new approach,” he said in an e-mail. “Depending on how far the Indians penetrated and the nature of the targets, these might also represent much more ambitious operations.”

Looks like it will have a positive impact on Newmarket, not sure about Kirkland.

I’m not sure I’d be all that happy to only get a 57% share of the combined company if I were a Kirkland shareholder.

I guess we have to watch what Sprott does with his Newmarket shares as I believe he has a 13% stake.

New Study Confirms Copper Alloys Continuously Kill Bacteria, Keep Hospital Rooms Cleaner

Posted by ipso facto @ 9:02 on September 29, 2016

SCHAUMBURG, Ill.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–

The results are undeniable. A new clinical study investigating the bacteria-killing properties of copper has proven once again that the metal can play a leading role in fighting bacteria that cause healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). The paper also reached a second finding destined to shake-up cleaning practices in the healthcare industry.

Published in the September 28, 2016, online edition of the American Journal of Infection Control and authored by Grinnell College associate professor of biology Shannon Hinsa-Leasure, Ph.D., the study is the first to show that surfaces in patient rooms quickly re-contaminate after terminal cleaning – even when the room is unoccupied. The paper also concluded that when surfaces in patient rooms are made of copper, bacterial loads do not rebound, whether the room is occupied or not.

Dr. Hinsa-Leasure’s study found that 93 percent of rooms at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center (GRMC) that included copper surfaces remained at or near the recommended threshold for terminal cleaning (250 CFU/100 cm2). Only 49 percent of rooms without copper surfaces met that same threshold.

“Stainless steel, plastic and wood do not have the inherent bacteria fighting attributes of copper,” she said. “So even the most conscientious cleaning doesn’t do the job that copper does all on its own.” According to Hinsa-Leasure, the results demonstrate that the use of copper surfaces can protect patients from bacteria that lead to infections.
