Obamacare killing jobs in New York area, executives tell Federal Reserve survey

Posted by Farmboy @ 12:19 on August 17, 2016

Obamacare is killing jobs in and around the Big Apple, executives say.

About 20 percent of companies in the New York region say they are cutting their workforce in response to the Affordable Care Act, according to a new Federal Reserve Bank of New York survey.

And most companies said they will be paying more in insurance premiums, and requiring their workers to pay a bigger share of those premiums, as a result of Obamacare.

The survey results come two days after the large health insurer Aetnajoined rivals UnitedHealth Group and Humana in announcing it would significantly cut back the number of geographic areas where it sells Obamacare plans next year due to steep losses on those plans.”

The US better take 3 actions soon to avoid recession: Mohamed El-Erian

Posted by Farmboy @ 11:59 on August 17, 2016

In other words, El-Erian thinks the Fed and its counterparts around the globe have kept the spigots of easy money flowing for too long, hoping growth will come around.

“We as a society fell in love with finance as the engine of growth,” he said. “Up to 2008, we depended on private finance. Since 2008, we’ve depended on central banks. We have forgotten what it takes to growth an economy in an inclusive manner.”

The economist said these three structural steps could help spur stronger economic growth:

Floridagold, Stupid ( Crazy), Like a Fox

Posted by Farmboy @ 10:22 on August 17, 2016

See if any of these descriptions fit Obama:

  • CRAZY LIKE (OR AS) A FOX – “.seemingly foolish but in fact extremely cunning.” From “Random House Historical Dictionary of American Slang, Volume 1, A-G” by J.E. Lighter, Random House, New York, 1994. And from a second reference: Crazy (Dumb, Sly) Like a Fox. Smart and resourceful.
  • The fox has been celebrated for centuries as a crafty animal. Its wiles were remarked in the ‘Trinity College Homilies,’ dating from about 1200. S. J. Perelman made one of the phrases (Crazy Like a Fox) the title of a book in 1944.” From the “Dictionary of Cliches” by James Rogers (Ballantine Books, New York, 1985).
  • If you say, “He’s crazy like a fox,” you are saying that person is smart and can outwit other people. The image I get is that the actions of a fox appear a little crazy but he is in fact acting in a brilliant manner to save himself.
  • I once thought Obama to be superficial, extremely shallow, a good BS’er, and not very bright. My opinion has changed over the past few years. I think he is working his plan, which is to destroy America, and about half of this country is too stupid to realize that. Hillary is Obama II and many dont get it.
  • Good Morning to you, Im headed to town so leaving you in charge at the Oasis. Your first order of the day is to go wake up Wanka. 🙂

America to hand off Internet in under two months

Posted by Farmboy @ 9:27 on August 17, 2016

The Department of Commerce is set to hand off the final vestiges of American control over the Internet to international authorities in less than two months, officials have confirmed.

The department will finalize the transition effective Oct. 1, Assistant Secretary Lawrence Strickling wrote on Tuesday, barring what he called “any significant impediment.”

The move means the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority, which is responsible for interpreting numerical addresses on the Web to a readable language, will move from U.S. control to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, a multistakeholder body that includes countries like China and Russia.

Critics of the move, most prominently Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, have pointed out the agency could be used by totalitarian governments to shut down the Web around the globe, either in whole or in part.”

Comment: So if the web was to get shut down, it will be because of ‘events beyond our control’. Hmmmm, ??? Somehow, I think Obama is up to no good, again. BTW, anticipating such a move by the govt at some point, here is snail mail : Farmboy P.O. Box 338, Lebanon, Ga. 30146. Just in case. 🙂 Feel free to drop me a note anytime.

Right To Be Believed, Unless You Were Sexually Abused By Bill

Posted by Farmboy @ 9:01 on August 17, 2016

The Clinton campaign has removed a pledge from its website stating that all survivors of sexual assault “have the right to be believed.”

On a page dedicated to “Campus sexual assault” on HillaryClinton.com, this passage from the Democratic presidential candidate used to be prominently featured last year: “I want to send a message to every survivor of sexual assault: Don’t let anyone silence your voice. You have the right to be heard. You have the right to be believed, and we’re with you.”

Time to Buy Gold, Silver and Mining Stocks

“Gold will continue to perform its role as a safe haven during these seemingly never-ending times of crisis. The metal’s surge of as much as 8.1% on the day of the Brexit vote last month is an indicator that its luster of safety is undimmed in the current markets. ”

Gold Falls With Silver as Fed Officials Signals Sooner Rate Rise

Posted by Farmboy @ 8:27 on August 17, 2016

“Gold’s 25 percent first-half rally appears to have petered out, with the metal climbing less than 2 percent since the end of June as the market prices the possibility of a sooner U.S. rate increase. New York Fed President William Dudley warned investors they are underestimating the likelihood of increases, and Atlanta Fed chief Dennis Lockhart said he’s confident growth is accelerating, setting the stage for one or two rises this year. The comments boosted the probability of a hike in December to 51 percent.”

falter

Comment: I think this Dudley Dude is full of it but his remarks yesterday did seem to slow down the PM traders. Why anyone listens to these Fed Heads is a mystery to me. Gold may be taking a pause, a breather, for the moment, but I predict shortly a nice rise beginning in a couple weeks. Or sooner. The next Headline could spark a new rally. The world’s markets and banks are that precarious. Meanwhile, the markets wait for the 2;00pm release of the Fed minutes. I gots laundry to do in the meantime. I miss Greenspan and his gobblygook speak, at least he made it interesting to try and figure out what the heck he said.

commish @ 22:37 Trump Speech

Posted by Farmboy @ 8:11 on August 17, 2016

Thanks for mentioning the head count on those listening via YouTube last night. There is also an uncounted number of folks who watched it at Right Side Broadcasting. RSB are the ones doing the actual filming of Trump’s Live events. I prefer to watch it on their web site which seems to have fewer ‘technical’ glitches than YouTube, for some strange reason. 🙂 ( I dont think the owners of YouTube are Trump fans.)

Anyways, here is another link to watch Trump in case YouTube ceases to carry it. At least as long as their servers can handle the traffic.

Ps) “Call us names”, another great post from you ! Thanks!

Portugeezer @ 4:35 Yep, Stay Tuned…

Posted by Farmboy @ 8:01 on August 17, 2016

Nothing Obama or Hillary might do to keep the reins of power would surprise me. Especially after Trump’s speech last night where he might have tipped his hand a little with his own future plans to shut down the corruption in Washington. If Trump makes it to the White House, there could be a purge like America has never seen in it’s history. Hillary may find herself in a Federal Prison, along with a host of others who have violated the laws of the land and subverted the Constitution.

I dont think Trump is going to put up with the things that have been going on. Leastways, that is what I garnered from his ‘Law & Order’ speech last evening. I think Trump is making a lot of folks in Washington very nervous. Wouldnt surprise me come November 9th, if a lot of rats start looking for new residence abroad, places that offer protection from extradition. 🙂

We watch and wait.

Good Morning Maya, Pele? Oh No She Didn’t !

Posted by Farmboy @ 7:47 on August 17, 2016

I can take an occassional beat down of the Precious. I will eventually get over the Women’s Volleyball team losing last night. (Grrrrr) But I draw the line at Pele stealing the coffee pot. Which is why I named that new piece of farm gear you sent, Lava Buster (LB). A fine addition to my ole truck (Betsy Lou), and my Colt .45 ( Sweet Pea), and that dog AuGal gave me (LuluBelle).  Together, we will retrieve that coffee pot from the hands of the gods. Then see if we can find AuGal, she’s been missing too long.

Have a nice day ! 🙂
