Any thinking of maybe some put options on DB? I have often considered it but my thinking is that if DB goes down, the cascade of defaults by other banks could be calamitous and therefore, would not be allowed under any circumstances. Thoughts in the subject anyone?

Texas Metals great but minimum 1K in purchase. Looking for smaller quantities for my son to get into some type of precious metals. He might be looking for something like buying say 5 coins at a clip by the by. Any suggestions appreciated tenters.

Financial System Detonating? Deutsche Bank Is Collapsing

Both Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank stocks are hitting all-time lows. Both are collapsing despite billions in Central Bank – Fed, ECB, Bundesbank, Swiss National Bank – monetary support.

Deutsche Bank had been advertising a 5% interest rate to customers in Belgium on 90-day deposits of at least 50k euros . Bank deposits are essentially “loans” to a bank from the depositor (creditor). This implies that the rate that DB had to pay to attract deposits is equivalent to a triple-C rated credit (although the 10-yr junk bond rates for double-B rated bonds are around 5.5%, keep in mind that DB is paying 5% for 3-month money). This is the unmistakable sign of a company that is collapsing.

A large jet plane has crashed on a farm in the middle of rural Kentucky, feared to be Air Force One. Panic stricken, the local sheriff’s department has mobilized and descended on the farm in force. By the time they got there, the aircraft was totally destroyed with only a burned hull left, smoldering in a tree line that bordered the farm.

The sheriff and his men entered the smoking mess but could find no remains of anyone. They spotted the farmer plowing a field not too far away as if nothing had happened. They hurried over to the man’s tractor. “Hank,” the sheriff yelled, panting and out of breath.

“Did you see this terrible accident happen?” “Yep. Sure did,” the farmer mumbled unconcerned, cutting off the tractor’s engine. Do you realize that is Air Force One, the airplane of the President of the United States?” “Yep.” “Were there any survivors?” “Nope. They’s all kilt straight out, “the farmer answered. “I done buried them all myself. Took me most of the morning.” “President Obama is dead?” the sheriff asked. “Well,” the farmer grumbled, restarting his tractor, “He kept a-saying he wasn’t, but you know how that sumbitch lies.”

Pakistan and Afghanistan failed to reach an agreement on border management in talks on Monday, officials said, after days of clashes at the border last week left four dead and thousands stranded.

Fighting broke out when Pakistan started building a barrier at the crossing to stop Islamist militants crossing over from Afghanistan.

That plan angered Afghanistan, which rejects the colonial-era Durand Line border drawn up in 1893 and objects to Pakistan building checkpoints along the disputed boundary.

The two countries agreed on a ceasefire on Thursday, and it was decided that an Afghan delegation led by deputy foreign minister Hekmat Khalil Karzai would visit Pakistan for talks on Monday.

Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry on Monday informed the Afghan delegation that Pakistan planned to build four gates at different points on the crossing, a Pakistani foreign office official said.

“There was no final agreement but we have informed them (Afghanistan) of our position,” the official said, requesting anonymity as he was not authorized to speak to the media.

“These gates are important for the safety and security of both Pakistan and Afghanistan.”

Visium Asset Management, a multibillion-dollar hedge fund, has imploded in the biggest scandal to hit the industry in years.

The fund told investors of its plan to close in a letter Friday. It’s the most high-profile shutdown since authorities forced Steve Cohen’s controversial SAC Capital to close in 2013.

A slew of factors – from a brewing insider-trading scandal to a contentious investment by Visium’s founder that rankled investors and staffers alike – led to Visium’s demise.

On top of all of that, Visium’s flagship fund had been reporting dismal performance. Visium is selling one of its better performing funds to AllianceBernstein, it said.

Omar Mateen bought nearly $9,000 worth of jewelry less than a week before he killed 49 people at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, ABC News has learned.

The purchase was made June 6 at the Kay Jewelers in Jensen Beach, Florida, which is near the Lotus Gun Shop where Mateen attempted to buy body armor.

Signet, which owns Kay Jewelers, would not confirm the purchase by Mateen, but issued a statement that they are “working closely with the authorities.”

“Signet was shocked and deeply saddened by the violent acts against the LGBT community. We join all Americans in mourning and are working closely with the authorities. We will do everything possible to support them,” Signet vice president David A. Bouffard said in a statement.

We learn much about human psychology from observing the reactions to the mass-shooting at the Pulse nightclub. We don’t learn much about the mass-shooting, its causes, and its motivations.

When a villain commits a terrible evil, ideologues reflexively blame what they regard as evil without reference to the facts. These a priori explanations require explanations all their own.

While Obama refuses to fault “radical Islam” for terrorism, his votaries plainly name “National Rifle Association,” “Christians,” “Republicans,” and other unusual usual suspects as the true culprits behind last weekend’s carnage. “This is a political distraction,” the president said about his reluctance to utter “radical Islam.” So, too, is the audacity-of-dopes effort to deflect blame onto all-too-convenient enemies…

ut Americans repeatedly saw something and said something. The government did next to nothing.

A gun store worker suspicious of Mateen’s request for body armor and ammunition contacted the FBI weeks ago. Co-workers freaked out by boasts of his connections to terrorists contacted the FBI. Public school classmates shocked by the 9/11 attacks became doubly shocked at Mateen’s boisterous in-class cheers during the event’s live broadcast.

Not only did the government not stop him, the government gave him a job, and not only did they give him a job but they gave him a job with a badge and later let him guard a courthouse with a gun.

But why talk about all that? Better to say the Republicans did it.
